Course Summary

Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Bridging Course - Online


To ensure compliance with liquor licensing laws in Queensland, all staff involved in the service and supply of alcohol will require a current Queensland specific RSA certificate within 30 days of commencing employment in this state. This On-line RSA Bridging Course offered by Sunshine Coast TAFE is a Qld Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR) approved course.


Interstate RSA certificates

If you hold a current RSA certificate through previous interstate qualifications (aligned to unit code SITHFAB009A Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol) you may qualify for the RSA on-line bridging course. However, you must be able to supply a certified copy of your certificate before you can commence.


Important Information

Before commencing this bridging course and to ensure you are eligible to complete and receive your certificate, you must be able to provide Sunshine Coast TAFE with the following certified copies:

  • A current certificate or certificate of attainment for the unit THHBFB09B Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (no older than 3 years old from issue date)

Or

  • A current certificate or certificate of attainment for the unit SITHFAB009A Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (no older than 3 years old from issue date)

You should not be doing this course unless you can provide Sunshine Coast TAFE with a certified copy of the above. You cannot pass this course unless this certificate is provided. Please note no certificates will be forwarded to you, regardless if you have completed and passed the course, unless we receive this copy.


During this course, participants will gain general skills and knowledge regarding responsible service of alcohol under Qld State legislation.

Students will also receive a Certificate for Responsible Service of Alcohol issued by the Qld Office of Liquor Licensing, Gaming and Racing (OLGR).

If you change your employment, an RSA certificate will be required within 30 days.

  • Assist alcohol affected customers

Please note: the OLGR Certification received from this course is only valid in Queensland and has a 3 year validity.


Course Duration

On average the on-line course and assessment should take approximately 4 hours to complete. Once the course has commenced you will have 4 weeks to complete the program.

If you are not successful in completing the course you would need to contact Sunshine Coast TAFE to arrange re-enrolment, including additional payment.

Once enrolled you will be given contact details if you require assistance with course information. Assistance will be available during office hours Monday - Friday (Qld time).
