Course Summary

Food Safety Supervisor Training

Under the Food Safety Act 2006, every licensed food business in QLD was required to have a Food Safety Supervisor after 1 July 2008.

As part of this online course, you must have access to a food workplace and a food safety supervisor to verify you have demonstrated safe food handling techniques and skills in implementing a food safety program (either as an employee or a volunteer). This food workplace should:

  • Have an operational kitchen, food storage, preparation, display and service area
  • Have real food ingredients and food items
  • Be fully equipped for food preparation (eg. A commercial kitchen, catering production line or food preparation area of a food outlet)
  • Have temperature monitoring equipment

If you do not have access to a kitchen, you can approach a local business for this activity or contact Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE to arrange to complete this observation activity at the Mooloolaba campus.

A Food Safety Supervisor must have a statement of attainment issued by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for the competencies identified below or have demonstrated to an RTO that they have the prior skills, experience or training to meet these competencies.
