Course Summary

Construction White Card (CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the General Construction Industry) On Line Delivery

This unit of competency replaces the former "Blue Card' as an induction program designed as a preparatory license prior to entry to a building and construction site. This Unit relates directly to the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2006). in compliance with statutory requirements of the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 2008.

The White Card course is intended to provide new and existing building and construction industry persons with the introductory understanding and knowledge needed to commence or continue within the building and construction industry.

The aim of this training program is to provide initial basic health and safety education to all persons working within the building and construction industry. Participants will acquire knowledge of the following areas:

  • Appropriate OHS legislative requirements and responsibilities, including duty of care requirements and safe work practices;
  • Basic risk management principles including hazard identification, common construction hazards, assessment of risk, control and evaluation of control measures,
  • OHS communication processes, information and documentation, roles of OHS personnel; General procedures for responding to incidents and emergencies and identifying relevant authorities for reporting hazards, injuries and incidents.
  • Safety signs, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Fire Safety Equipment

This training program comprises of one unit of competence:
CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the General Construction Industry

Completion of this training program by persons wishing to perform construction work is a mandatory requirement under the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 2008.

Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE offers the CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the General Construction Industry White Card through on line delivery.

Program

Entry Requirement :

To undertake this on-line training progam, participants will be required to provide a current email address. Once enrolled a TAFE Queensland Student Number will be issued. This Student Number will act as a user name and a password allowing access to the on line training program, will be issued separately via email.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Prior to participants being issued with a White Card, they will be required to provide:

'Proof of Participants Identity';

To verify a participant's identity, Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE will require at least one (1) current certified copy of photographic identification such as:

  • A current and valid Drivers Licence issued by an Australian State or Territory; or
  • A current and valid Passport; or
  • Where the participant is unable to provide photographic evidence of identification the participant must provide at least three (3) other forms of identification.

Certified copies means a copy or copies certified by the words "This is a true copy of ‘X' document" and signed by a Justice of the Peace, Commissioner of Declarations or a legal practitioner signed after they have sighted the original document.

‘Proof of Having Participated' and ‘Proof of Participant Successfully Completed an Assessment'

To verify the participant must provide Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE with a Statutory Declaration in accordance with part four (4) of the Oaths Act 1867.

Identify themselves truthfully for the training program undertaken;

  • That the work submitted during the course was the participants own work; and
  • That the participant has received no assistance from anyone else (other than the trainer and assessor of the trainer program) in the completion of an assessment.
  • Completion of an on line participants signature sheet stating; Cardholders name and cardholders signature.

These details will be transferred onto the Work Safely in the Construction Industry - White Card. This card will then be laminated and posted to the participant within 5 working days of the participant successfully demonstrating competency.

Award Information :

Participants will receive a Statement of Attainment after successfully demonstrating competency in all of the elements listed in the training program CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the General Construction Industry. In addition, Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE will issue a CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the General Construction Industry White Card.
