Beginners Photography


Photography is an area of lifelong learning. Let TAFE set you on your way by helping you break away from the Auto dial and learn to take control of your camera and your photography.

This course covers the basics, looking at camera operations and modes, essential photographic theory and how to apply that in your photography to achieve particular creative outcomes. Whether you want to shoot better portraits or landscapes, or just begin to better understand the art and craft of photography, this is the course for you.

  • Basic Camera Operation
  • Exposure
  • The Creative Controls - aperture, shutter speed & ISO
  • Camera modes and metering
  • Composition
  • Working the subject
  • Portrait techniques
  • Landscape techniques
  • Focussing techniques
