Course Summary

Basic Barista


Wake up and smell the coffee. If you want to become a barista, you'll need to complete a course in Basic Barista at Sunshine Coast TAFE. This course will give you the skills and knowledge required to professionally prepare and serve a range of espresso coffees.

You'll learn how to set up, operate, maintain and clean coffee equipment including the espresso machine and grinder. This course is ideal if you're operating in a cafe establishment or seeking employment in a variety of hospitality areas. Learn about presentation, coffee styles - including filter and plunger coffees, trends around the world and keeping your customers happy.

You'll also learn more about: preparing and serving different styles of coffees; milk; storage and cleaning of coffee ingredients and equipment; the perfect espresso; espresso machines; and coffee beans - roasting and blending. You will receive a textbook, which is included in the cost of this course. You must wear closed in shoes to class.

All form fields are required.
