Don't wait for your promotion to come to you, get proactive in turning your waiter's position into a management role by enrolling in the Diploma of Hospitality at Sunshine Coast TAFE.
This 12 month, 2 semester full-time program provides you with the necessary skills and associated knowledge to work efficiently in the hospitality industry. The Diploma comprises both theory and practical sessions in food and beverage operations and front office. In semester 1 and 2 participants begin modules that are involved in supervisory and management skills, including accounting; law; training; and health and safety procedures.
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent as a manager in any hospitality functional area. You'll possess a sound theoretical knowledge base and be able to use a range of specialised, technical or managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate your own work and/or the work of your team.
All form fields are required.
| Information : | The course consists of a fairly equal distribution of theory and practical sessions. The practical component is in the form of hands-on experience in the college restaurants. The college restaurants are open to the public where breakfast, lunches and dinners are served on certain days of the week. Your training is geared towards these practical experiences. You will be required to train in the restaurants at night on Thursdays and Fridays. This provides practical training in restaurants, hotels and the many food outlets on the Sunshine Coast so students can experience first-hand the atmosphere and experience of working in a real food and beverage environment. Fidelio and Hirum are the front office software that you will be using whilst at TAFE. They are both widely used throughout the hospitality industry. |
| Career Prospects : | Successful completion may lead to employment as a Bar Manager, Restaurant Manager, Small Business Manager, Front Office Manager or Functions Manager. |
