If making art makes your day, a Certificate IV in Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft from Sunshine Coast TAFE will make your life imitate art. Whether you're a realist or abstract expressionist, you'll still need the necessary skills to create your art. We'll teach you the rules; then you can break them.

This Certificate will enable you to develop your practical art skills and refine and communicate concepts for your own work. The program also provides an understanding of the history and theory of artistic practice. The program provides a wide range of knowledge and skills for work in the visual arts and contemporary craft industries, including painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, design and art history.

By completing the Certificate IV in Visual Art and Craft you may have the opportunity to continue study in the second year of the Visual Art or Ceramics Diploma. This qualification will ensure you have a broad artistic knowledge and skill set, and have the ability to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems.

Information :

Course timetable is 3 days per week.

This is an exciting program that introduces you to a wide range of art techniques. This course will give you the opportunity to investigate different ways to market and exhibit your completed work. By undertaking this course, you will find that personal and professional based outcomes are numerous.

Please note: While a range of generic materials will be supplied, students will need to provide some of their own specialised materials or additional materials for larger pieces.

 

Career Prospects :

This Certificate can lead to higher level studies in arts or may lead you to employment as a skilled assistant in art centres, studios or various art establishments. This is a fantastic opportunity to discover what art discipline you want to pursue. 

Academic Entry Requirements :

You must have successfully completed year 10 (or equivalent), turned 16 or have relevant experience and/or qualifications that indicate likely success in completing the course.

 

English Language Requirements :

If you first language is not English, you must satisfy one of the following English language proficiency requirements:

  • International English Language System (IELTS), academic module - score out of 5.5 with no individual score less than 5.0. NOTE: All applicants from AL3 and AL4 countries must sit an IELTS test. http://www.immi.gov.au/students/student-visa-assessment-levels.htm

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - minimum score of 530 for the paper based test; 197 for the computer based; 71 for the internet based test.
  • Australian Year 12 English (or equivalent) - Sound Achievement rating.
  • Cambridge First Certificate of English - A or B grades.
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English.
  • Successful completion of an acceptable formal course where the medium of instruction was English. This does not include English Language Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS).
  • Swedish applicants - V, VG or MVG in English A and English B on your School Leaving Certificate.
