Certificate III in Hairdressing (WRH30109)

(International Students)


You don't need to go to great lengths to enter the hair industry, simply enrol in a Certificate III in Hairdressing at Sunshine Coast TAFE. This course provides a standard entry-level qualification for the hairdressing industry.

We'll teach you the skills and knowledge required to work as a hairdresser. You'll learn how to: cut, style, colour, straighten and permanently wave hair; sell products and services; provide hair and scalp treatments; receive and direct clients; prepare clients for salon services; co-ordinate salon tasks; maintain a safe clean work environment; and communicate within the workplace.

You'll also have the opportunity for hands on experience in the college salon and in a wide variety of private salons (Vocational Placement).

This Course is for anyone wanting an alternative to the traditional apprenticeship or for mature-age students who want to embark on a new career path.

Information :

Semester 2 course orientation Monday 9th July, 2012 10.00am - 12.30pm B1.26/28/30Mooloolaba Hairdressing salon. Student MUST wear closed in shoes.

Course commences 8.00am Tuesday 10th July, 2012.

Course timetable is 21 hours a week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays 8.00am - 4.00pm.

Industry placement (work experience) is a compulsory component and is to be completed throughout Semester 1 and 2.

Compulsory Dress Standards
Dress for fulltime students for the 3 days whilst at college is black. Closed in shoes must be worn at all times throughout college days and shirt/dress with sleeves.

Applicants require:

  • Minimum academic achievement equivalent to Australian Year 10
  • Basic computer skills
 

English Language Requirements :

TAFE Queensland requires proficiency in the English language before you can begin formal studies. This is determined by one of the following prerequisites:-

  • International English Language Testing System IELTS, academic module score of 5.5 with no individual score less than 5;

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL - score of 530 PBT or 197 CBT;

  • Certificate IV in English for International Students ELICOS;

  • Successful completion of an acceptable formal course where the medium of instruction was English. This does not include ELICOS

  • Completion of Stage 2 minimum Direct English Entry Program - University of the Sunshine Coast
 

Additional Requirements :

Students are required to supply their own professional tool kit. Your tool kit should contain the following:
cutting comb,
tail comb
basin comb
bristle brush
Denman brush
round brushes x 4; small, medium, large & extra large
clips
scissors x 2; 1 good pair for clients hair & 1 pair for headblock work
