If you'd like a career in the great outdoors, we've got great news! You can complete a Certificate II in Horticulture at Sunshine Coast TAFE in just six months. This entry level, practical course will introduce you to the horticulture industry and provide you with necessary skills and knowledge to perform basic industry practices and procedures.
You'll study a range of topics including nursery, gardening, landscaping, arboriculture and live works. We'll also teach you how to operate machinery and equipment and show you how to follow OHS procedures.
This qualification focuses on the general skills needed by horticulturalists. The program will cover tasks such as: recognising different plants; propagating, planting and caring for plants; operating horticultural machinery and equipment; treating weeds, pests and diseases; maintaining irrigation and drainage systems; helping with landscape construction; and generally working effectively in the industry.

| Career Prospects : | This qualification has national relevance regardless of region and caters for the varying nature of horticultural requirements in large and small enterprises. It enables entry into a broad range of horticultural industries at the level of horticultural worker.
