Provide support and care to people in their own homes. Enrol in a Certificate III in Home and Community Care (Flexible Delivery) at Sunshine Coast TAFE and you could enjoy a rewarding career in the community service industry.

This self-paced course delivered over 12 months will enable you to up skill from the Certificate III in Aged Care and obtain the specialist competencies required to work in home and community care.

You’ll learn how to: work effectively in a home and community care environment with culturally diverse clients and co-workers; provide support to people living with dementia; implement individualised plans; deliver care services using a palliative approach; and work within a relevant legal and ethical framework.

Information :

Course is self-paced within 12 months.

Orientation: Orientation is compulsory and will occur on your first visit. The teachers will advise you on which unit/s to enrol in. Monday 4-6pm in Room 1.56 Building A.

Intake: Continuous Intake

This course is for people who have completed the Certificate III in Aged Care. There are 14 units required to be eligible for this certificate plus completion of 60 hours vocational placement. Units completed within the Certificate III in Aged Care can be credited to this course. 

Career Prospects :

Provision of individuals personal care and/or other activities of daily life in the home or community facility. Workers in this industry require a Federal Police check, available from police stations for $42. 

Entry Requirement :

You will need to have completed Certificate III in Aged Care. 

Assessment Information :

You will be assessed via various modes including assignments and activities, both written and on-line, workplace observation and third party reports. Assessment is competency based and requires the completion of all projects and assignments, written and or practical, as set out within the Learners Guide.

Skills Recognition Skills recognition benefits students by recognising skills and knowledge gained from previous studies, informal training or experiences gained at work and in everyday life. Skills Recognition may include one or more of the following processes:

  • External Credit (for achievement of equivalent competencies outside TAFE). If you have received a pass result in the same unit from another organisation and it is part of the program you are enrolling in, you will get unit credits at no charge.
