Certificate III in Health Services Assistance - VET in Schools (HLT32512)

(Domestic Students)

Nurture your career opportunities in the caring industry by completing a Certificate III in Health Service Assistance at Sunshine Coast TAFE. This program is only available to current high school students to complete as part of their senior studies.

This program will train you to assist nurses and other healthcare professionals in both acute and long term care settings. You'll learn about personal care for patients, food distribution, cleaning and handling of linen and waste. You'll also complete a work placement in a medical facility giving you practical hands-on experience in a real work setting.

Completing this program while still in high school is the perfect stepping stone into work as a nursing assistant, medical receptionist, aged carer or wards-person. It can also provide you with a pathway to university or TAFE for further health services study. Places in this program are limited and you must complete an application to be considered.

The course is delivered online plus 10-15 workshops at Mooloolaba campus.

 

Career Prospects :

Career options include Assistant in Nursing, Wardsperson, Patient Services Assistant, Medical Orderly and Allied Health Assistant.
 

Entry Requirement :

Students wishing to participate in this course must submit an Application. Please contact your school VET Coordinator if you with to submit an application.

Students must have completed year 10 and be attending Year 11 in 2014.

Each student must provide the following at time of enrolment.
1. New Student Personal Details Form: including their LUI Number which is obtained from their school records
2. Signed Letter of Authorisation from School (see attachment in related documents) 

Assessment Information :

Assessments will be a combination of online assessments, projects and practical skills in the workplace.

Places in this course are limited so submit your Expression of Interest today!
Step 1
Discuss your choice of program with the VET Coordinator or Guidance Officer at your school

Step 2
Submit an Expression of Interest online by Friday 14th September. Once enrolments open you will be emailed an enrolment pack by Sunshine Coast TAFE.

Step 3
Complete and return all the enrolment documents by the due date to Sunshine Coast TAFE as places are limited. Your place is not confirmed until you receive your Confirmation of Enrolment.

Programs will be offered subject to sufficient enrolments and you will be notified of any changes to your preferred program.
