If you're driven to succeed in the automotive industry, enrol in the Prevocational Course in Automotive from Sunshine Coast Tafe and you'll gain a comprehensive introduction to the automotive industry.

This program will prepare you for an apprenticeship in the automotive industry. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive credit towards the first year of your apprenticeship program.

The course covers engine operations; maintenance and servicing fuel systems; automotive electrical and batteries; hand and power tools; wheel and tyre balancing; inspecting and servicing braking systems; cooling system repairs; and workplace health and safety.

You'll also complete a vocational placement of 200 hours and participate in workplace simulation and assessment.

Information :

Semester 2 course dates to be advised.

You will be required to attend on campus training Monday through Wednesday 8.30 - 4.30 and off campus vocational placement with a work place provider on Thursday or Friday.

Students will be required to provide/organise their own vocational placement.

 

Career Prospects :

Career options may include - an apprenticeship and trade qualifications in the automotive industry. Trade areas include automotive light vehicle, heavy vehicles, motorcycles and diesel mechanics.

Entry Requirement :

You must have successfully completed year 10 (or equivalent), turned 16 or have relevant experience and/or qualifications that indicate likely success in completing the course.
