A Certificate I in Plumbing Services from the Sunshine Coast TAFE could act as the conduit to launch your career in the plumbing industry. The course will introduce you to the plumbing trade, getting you job ready for an apprenticeship. It is of a practical nature with an emphasis on hands-on experience, providing skills and knowledge comparable to that of a first year plumbing apprenticeship.
Most employers will only consider taking you on as an apprentice if you have gained experience in a pre-apprenticeship course. Throughout the course you'll learn about water supply, roof and cladding installation, building services first aid, trade math and science, workplace communication and quality concepts.
This program is a full time educational program to develop employability skills as a transition from school to employment focusing on achieving an apprenticeship. It is an institute pathway to develop entry-level plumbing and services industry skills, complimented by an institute based workplace simulation and a vocational placement component.

| Entry Requirement : | You must have successfully completed year 10 (or equivalent), turned 16 or have relevant experience and/or qualifications that indicate likely success in completing the course.

| Assessment Information : | Assessment is undertaken throughout the course both in practical and theory exercises. Assessment is competency based and requires the completion of all projects and assignments written and/or practical as set out within the Unit Study Guides and Workbooks. Written verbal and practical assessments make up the majority of assessments but grooming hygiene attendance general attitude and your application to your studies are also taken into account. |
