Aged Care Workers provide services to older Australians and younger people with a disability in nursing homes, hostels and aged care facilities. These workers operate as a part of a care team under direct supervision of nurses and/or other health professionals.
Responsibilities include: organising and supervising social and cultural activities, providing support and assistance with residents' daily routines and assisting with administrative tasks.

Skills Recognition Skills recognition benefits students by recognising skills and knowledge gained from previous studies, informal training or experiences gained at work and in everyday life. Skills Recognition may include one or more of the following processes:
  • Internal Credit (for competencies already achieved in TAFE)
  • External Credit (for achievement of equivalent competencies outside TAFE). If you have received a pass result in the same unit from another organisation and it is part of the program you are enrolling in, you will get unit credits at no charge.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning assessment; formally recognising that you have acquired relevant skills and knowledge as a result of work experience, life experience or previous informal training education (be initiated by written application). Can upgrade to a CERT IV in Aged Care and a CERT IV in Home and Community Care or for just a few more units also gain a CERT 3 in Home and Community Care.
